BUTLINS MOSNEY 1960S/70S/80S.

"I can't wait for tomorrow ",said young Ger to the Ma
as she tucked him in for the night.
"I know Ger,Its going to be great", said the Ma.
"Boys, try and get some sleep,night,night",said the Ma as she
switched off the light switch as she left the Bedroom.
The Boys didn,t get much sleep that night with their excitement about
their trip the next morning.
Ger bails out of his bed early the next morning and proceeds
to wake up Rick and Bem.
They run downstairs all hyper and happy..........
 Two hours later with the car all packed up,The Da pulls away in the car with the Ma beside him in the front seat ,Rick,Bem,Ger,little Rob and baby Jackie were all in the back seat.
They drive through town ,then turn onto the Belfast road.
Half an hour later they pass the Airport and the kids get excited watching
the planes fly overhead.
Finally they turn off the main road.
"We,re nearly there ,Kids.",says the Da.
They had travelled about 30 miles(48 km).
Then just around the corner there is the big sign .....Welcome to Mosney.
After booking in they are giving the keys to their chalet.
There was so much to do in Butlins.
Big amusement park ,swimming pools,Boat lake.
Entertainment shows for kids and adults.
Restaurants and Bars.
Something for everyone no matter what age you were.
The Redcoats were front line staff who engaged with Adults and Kids to keep them Entertained and make sure everyone had a good Holiday.


People could book in for Self-Catering or they could go Full Board.
The Family were lucky to go Full Board that year.
That was one of many trips  to Butlins they would go to  over the years.
Mosney also held the finals of the Community games
every year.

Many top Athletes had performed there as young kids.
Mosney closed down as a Holiday centre in 2000.
Since then it has been used as an Accommodation
Centre for Asylum seekers.
